Dr. Susan Karam attended medical school at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. She then completed her residency in Internal Medicine at UAB in Birmingham, AL and her fellowship in endocrinology at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. She then returned home to Louisiana to join the endocrine department at Ochsner Medical Center. Dr. Karam is board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism and Internal Medicine.
Dr. Karam has an interest in the management of diabetes. She oversees an insulin pump clinic which provides dedicated care to our patients using insulin pumps. She also specializes in the treatment of pituitary disorders including functioning and non-functioning pituitary adenomas, prolactinomas and craniopharyngiomas. She cares for these patients in a multi-disciplinary pituitary clinic at Ochsner Medical Center.
