Dr. Garcia-Diaz earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine, New Orleans and completed her internship, residency and infectious diseases fellowship at Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation. Dr. Garcia-Diaz is a prolific researcher who is active internationally in the field of Infectious Diseases. She is the Director of Clinical Infectious Diseases Research as well as the Director of Medical Student Research at the University of Queensland/Ochsner Clinical School. She holds a faculty appointment at Tulane Medical School and is an Associate Professor at The University of Queensland/Ochsner Clinical School. She has published multiple peer reviewed manuscripts and lectures at the national and international level. She has years of experience mentoring and teaching all levels of medical trainees. She is a fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, American College of Physicians and the Academy of Physicians in Clinical Research. She is also a Certified Principal Investigator through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. Her professional interests include infections following organ transplantation, antimicrobial resistance and fungal infections.
