Graduate Medical Education is viewed as a valuable strategic asset of Ochsner Health which has consistently been able to innovate through the medical education continuum. Seventy-eight years ago, in the City of New Orleans our founding fathers were launching the first multidisciplinary group practice of its kind to provide quality healthcare with peace of mind to the citizens of south Louisiana and the immediate gulf south region of the United States. In 2020 Ochsner Health will be privileged to treat patients from every state in the union and over 80 countries around the globe. In the words of Dr. Alton Ochsner, “Our goal in forming the clinic is to keep people well, useful, and happy”. Each of you desiring to train at Ochsner could do so utilizing this proven model and this is an excellent goal for each of you to keep in mind as you embark upon the next phase in your professional development. The vision of Ochsner’s founders in 1942 is now our legacy to pass on to each of you seeking to train at Ochsner. You can represent the next generation of physicians and specialists that will be privileged to one day state that “I advanced my professional career in this progressive institution where quality patient care and safety are constantly optimized”.

The City of New Orleans is a cultural jewel in all of America where food, music, culture, and architecture are all woven together to create a wonderful place to live and learn. For the rest of your lives New Orleans and Ochsner Health could be home for you as you successfully complete training in this institution. Thank you for exploring our 30 diverse and fully accredited residency and fellowship programs which will offer you everything you need to be a successful and extremely competent practitioner. I do look forward to meeting you virtually and/or in person as you continue through the recruitment process and ultimately match to begin an Ochsner training program in July/August of 2021.

All the best as you enter this year’s matching process!
