2023 - Emergency Medicine Crash Course

Dr. J. Suau Program Director of Emergency Medicine and Dr. Denrick Cooper, Assistant Residency Program Director and Director of International Emergency Medicine are committed to assuring that our residents have the opportunity to have global heath experiences during their training at Ochsner Health.

They believe that global health is local health and that our excellent ED program should prepare our residents to face the global and local health challenges of Emergency Medicine of the 21st century.

Ochsner International Emergency Medicine Director Dr. Denrick Cooper worked with Colleagues at Vanderbilt Emergency Medicine to deliver the annual Crash Course 2023 in Georgetown, Guyana at Georgetown Public Hospital.

The Annual Crash Course is an annual emergency medicine bootcamp to introduce and review fundamental concept and principles in emergency medicine. Dr. Cooper accompanied by resident Dr. Karly Lebherz traveled to Guyana to provide their expertise as well as share in an amazing intellectual and cultural exchange of ideas and perspectives.

Dr. Yvens Laborde, Medical Director of Global Health Education , states as a global medical institution part of our mission is to provide our trainees opportunities to learn the technical skills, cultural humility and adaptability needed to practice medicine under a wide variety of different clinical settings locally and globally.
