Primary Care Behavioral Health Integration
For this major training area, supervision may be provided by Teresa M. Christian, Psy.D.
Primary Care Behavioral Health Integration providers at Ochsner Health, Northshore are embedded into primary care and work as consulting members of the primary care team. Fellows are provided training in evidence-based practices and education regarding primary care behavioral health integration. Services are provided to patients referred by Ochsner primary care providers generally for short-term, solution-focused behavioral health treatment. Common referrals included but are not limited to adjustment and/or coping with medical conditions, chronic illness management, sleep management, pain management, adherence to medical regimens as well as anxiety and depression
Psychosocial Oncology
For this major training area, supervision may be provided by Nicholas Tworek, Psy.D.
Psychosocial Oncology at St. Tammany Cancer Center serves patients and their caregivers throughout cancer treatment. Our services are provided to adults/older adults throughout the continuum of cancer care, including diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and palliative care/hospice. Fellows are provided with evidence-based training to aid in the management of difficulties frequently associated with cancer care. Common presenting problems include adjustment to illness, treatment anxiety and sleep disturbance, grief, adaptation to survivorship, chronic illness management, and end of life care. Services for more general psychiatric conditions or pre-existing mental health needs, such as anxiety and depression, are provided as well.
