Each year, The University of Queensland recognizes the outstanding contributions, innovative work, and exemplary leadership demonstrated by its faculty. The UQ Faculty of Medicine Excellence Awards celebrate the people who are part of and make the difference to its world-class reputation.
This year there were 161 nominations across 11 award categories. The UQ-Ochsner Clinical School had several teams nominated for the 2020 Awards:
The UQ-OCS Recruitment Team was named “Collaborators of the Year” for 2020 for significant improvements and success which align with UQ objectives, characteristics and principles. The UQ-OCS Recruitment Team included:

“Our Ochsner Academic team was referred to as adaptable, flexible, unflappable, student-centric throughout this year of pandemic,” said Dr. Ronald Amedee, Dean of Medical Education and Head of the UQ-Ochsner Clinical School. “They were appropriately awarded for their submission as Collaborators of the Year,” he added.
The Ochsner Recruitment Team innovated a totally virtual recruitment effort for 2020 resulting in a UQ-OCS medical class of 110 being selected to start in January 2021. Their work involved 265 Multiple-Mini Interviews, supported by an additional 79 Ochsner interviewers consisting of faculty and staff from across Ochsner.
