Emergency Medicine Interest Group

The UQ-Ochsner EMIG was recently selected at the winner of the AAEM/RSA International EMIG of the Year Award. The American Academy of Emergency Medicine Resident and Student Association (AAEM/RSA) is a non-profit professional association for emergency medicine residents and medical students. AAEM/RSA recognizes the unparalleled value Emergency Medicine Interest Groups (EMIGs) provide for medical students interested in pursuing a residency in emergency medicine.

The AAEM/RSA EMIG of the Year Award honors exemplary performing EMIGs on an international and regional scale as well as the individual student leaders who work tirelessly to organize such valuable opportunities for their EMIG members.

The UQ-Ochsner EMIG helps med students succeed in becoming the best EM residents possible through mentorship, lectures, hands-on training, and information for a successful match in emergency medicine.

This is accomplished by:

  • bringing students together with EM interest
  • helping students navigate the residency application process
  • providing EM related educational resources
  • assisting with networking
  • enhancing extracurricular activities
