Why Infectious Diseases?
I decided to pursue Infectious Disease after an away rotation. I love how rewarding it can be to see patients improve in a short course of time, the diagnostic approach required, the variety of pathology it brings and lastly the investigative skills required to do this. I also have a keen interest in Critical Care Infectious Diseases.
Why Ochsner?
The stellar academic reputation, community of patients it serves, proximity to home and east Texas, in addition the diverse faculty and the best overall interview experience.

Why Infectious Diseases?
Infectious Diseases is a field in which a tangible difference can be immediately witnessed. During one day of a hospitalization, a patient may feel febrile and show clinical signs of illness. By a day later, that same patient may fully recover after receiving an antibiotic regimen. Moreover, ID is an ever-evolving field, and I have taken a special interest in diseases such as hepatitis C, TB, osteomyelitis, and neurocysticercosis. Also, with a plethora of research opportunities available, this renders ID a clinically and academically enriching field.

Why Infectious Diseases?
I've been interested in Biology/Microbiology since my undergraduate studies. After my time in medical school clerkships and Internal Medicine Residency, I chose Infectious Diseases for it's cognitive aspects. There can be a great deal of detective work and systematic breakdown of differentials to get to the final diagnosis, as well as thoughtfulness to formalize a treatment plan. I find the whole process a very rewarding mental challenge.
Why Ochsner?
I was impressed by everything Ochsner's Infectious Disease Fellowship had to offer. Ochsner is a large health system in the region and there's plenty of opportunity for fellows to gain experience in antibiotic stewardship, infection control, travel and international medicine, and immunocompromised patients. As I already went to Grenada for medical school, I wanted to embrace the opportunity for another adventure outside of California by living in New Orleans.
