Ochsner Health is a system that delivers health to the people of Louisiana, Mississippi and the Gulf South with a mission to Serve, Heal, Lead, Educate and Innovate.
Thank you for your interest in Ochsner Health for a preceptor or practicum educational experience.
We are committed to our partnership physician assistant program with Xavier University of Louisiana and do prioritize these students as well as highly rated graduate programs locally and across our state. An active academic affiliation agreement with Ochsner Health is required of all physician assistant student rotations.
We review application periodically throughout the year and assess our PA placement opportunities regularly. See the following table for the specific deadlines and clinical rotation periods.
You should submit your application at least four to six months in advance of the rotation. Submitting a request does
not guarantee placement. Email your complete application to appstudents@ochsner.org.
All clinical education rotation requests must be submitted through InPlace Network by a school representative. Students should not approach providers with inquiries regarding preceptorship.
Students with confirmed placements will be required to review all Student Resources and complete associated documentation. School representatives will submit documentation through InPlace Network on behalf of students for processing.
Students are NOT to directly contact Ochsner Health faculty and administrative staff in an attempt to arrange clinical training experiences. The Office of Allied Health Administration is responsible for scheduling physician assistant student requests. ALL students must follow the established guidelines and procedures without exception.
