This course is an introduction to clinical anesthesiology. Through clinical immersion, lectures, and simulations, students will be taught the principles of anesthesia.
As a member of the anesthesia care team, students will actively participate in the perioperative anesthetic management of patients. Students will have the opportunity to perform various procedures, such as airway management and vascular access. Students will participate not just in general anesthesia, but also in the different sub-specialties of anesthesia, such as cardiac, pediatric, obstetric, regional and neuro-anesthesia. In addition to weekly department and resident lectures/didactic activities, students will receive a dedicated lecture every day.
Students can participate in a two- or four- week rotation. Rotation duration and start dates can be modified with course director’s prior approval.
