The ideal candidate will meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Successful completion of a CAATE Accredited Athletic Training Program preferred
- Athletic Trainer BOC Certification preferred
- Completed Orthopedic Technologist Certification (OTC) upon matriculation into program
- Basic Life Support Certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
- Three years of related experience evaluating and assessing patient injuries preferred
Resident Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s)
Prior to beginning Residency, applicants should develop proficiency in the following areas:
- Entry-level physical examination skills to complete a musculoskeletal system assessment
- The ability to take a thorough and problem-focused patient history
- Entry-level understanding of orthopaedic radiographic studies
- The ability to succinctly organize history, exam, and test results to formulate a working diagnosis during case presentation to the physician
- Entry-level understanding of wound care including suture removal
- Fitting casts, braces, and other durable medical equipment
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
- Clean and professional verbal and written communication
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with flexible schedule including travel between facilities
- Ability to meet physical demand requirements of “Very Heavy Work”
