UQ Ochsner MD Program

Congratulations to our University of Queensland Medical School – Ochsner Health (UQ-Ochsner MD Program) students, faculty and staff for their incredible 2025 Match Day results!

This year, the UQ-Ochsner MD Program received a 97% match rate through the National Residency Match Program – one that far exceeds the average national match rate of 93.5% for U.S. medical schools. Nearly 52,500 applicants participated in this year’s program.

Match Day is the culmination of years of dedication, and our consistently high match rate is a testament to the academic excellence of our partnership with The University of Queensland. We are honored to offer medical school education that spans two continents, providing students with a unique global perspective as they train to be medical professionals.

This year, 65 medical students from the UQ-Ochsner MD Program Class of 2024 participated in the National Residency Match Program. Students matched into residency training programs from 21 states at many prestigious institutions across the country.

Congratulations also to Ochsner’s Graduate Medical Education (GME) and Allied Health leaders for a successful Match Day.

The AAMC predicts we will need 86,000 physicians by 2036, and Ochsner is helping solve this shortage. GME had a 100% match rate this year and currently offers 35 Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited residency and fellowship programs in a variety of specialties, including anesthesiology, emergency medicine, internal medicine and more. We are proud of our residency program in pediatrics at Ochsner Medical Center – New Orleans, our family medicine program in partnership with St. Tammany Health System and our new residency program for general surgery that began at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center in 2024.

Through our Clinical Education for Allied Health residency programs, Ochsner Pharmacy filled 71% of its 21 positions in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Match. The Ochsner Psychology Doctoral Internship program filled all six positions during its match and the Ochsner Clinical Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowship filled its one position in February.
