I love this program because Ochsner's EM program has such a great group of genuine/real/compassionate people from residents to faculty to nursing etc. EM is a difficult field for many reasons but regardless of how busy/stressful a day can be, empathy and doing what is best for the patient is always prioritized. I really value how diverse and inclusive Ochsner's EM program is, having better representation helps us take better care of our patients. Additionally, we have an assembly of faculty with diverse specializations and enthusiasm about teaching that is unmatched. I am also so grateful for my coresidents, we have the ability to get together routinely to spend time and that has made residency so much better and happier.

My first few months as an Ochsner Emergency Medicine resident have been an incredible journey of growth and learning. From day one, I was embraced by a supportive and dedicated team of mentors and co-residents who have made this transition smooth and exciting; especially with the smooth transition offered by our ‘Boot Camp’. The fast-paced environment of the emergency department has provided me with invaluable hands-on experience, allowing me to apply the knowledge I gained during medical school in real-life situations. Each shift brings new challenges and opportunities to make a meaningful impact on patients' lives, and I am constantly amazed by the resilience and strength of both the patients and the healthcare team. As I continue to develop my clinical skills and adapt to the demands of this dynamic field, I am grateful for the chance to contribute to the well-being of those in need and to be part of a community that shares my passion for emergency medicine.

Being at the bedside on a patient’s worst day and be present to hear their stories is what draws me into the field of EM. Despite the chaos that often draws us into the field of EM where you never know what might come through the doors of the ED, I know I will always be supported by all the staff around me. The 1:1 staffing is a pure luxury not afforded too many training programs and we are fortunate to have our own brilliant attending next to us on every patient and every decision we make. My co-residents, faculty, nurses and other ED staff members make me excited to work every day and we are more akin to a family than collogues. Every time I have walked through the Ochsner ED doors, I have felt invested in as both a learner and an individual. I feel so incredibly lucky to be surrounded by mentors and co-residents that inspire me daily and grow me into a better provider and person each day. The leadership team is exceptional, and our community is so welcoming and supportive — I can’t imagine a better place to train!  You should come see for yourself!  “The greatest medicine we will ever know is hope” ~Hippocrates
