Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Independent Interventional Radiology Residency Program at Ochsner. We received Initial Accreditation from the ACGME in April 2021.

The interventional radiology division at Ochsner has twelve faculty members, with expertise ranging from vascular disease, interventional oncology, neuro interventional radiology, dialysis, venous disease, musculoskeletal, and pain interventions.

The training program for the Integrated residency develops well-rounded, competent, and confident interventional radiologists. Residents are granted graduated autonomy along their training to function as primary operator. High volume is ensured as Interventional Radiology operates outpatient clinics at multiple sites. The Jefferson Hwy campus is the main referral center for the state, and strong interprofessional relationships provide for steady referral patterns from transplant surgery and oncology services. An integrated clinic experience, as well as participation in procedures and learning opportunities with other services such as cardiology and vascular surgery enhance trainee experience. Participation in weekly didactic lectures, case conferences, tumor board, vascular conference, and other interdisciplinary conferences are pillars of the program. Clinical experience includes full admitting privileges, inpatient rounding, and a busy consult services with two full time APPs assisting with minor procedures and clinic.

Ochsner Interventional Radiology is an excellent training program. For those interested in experiencing the full gamut of vascular and interventional radiology - including dialysis interventions, vascular malformation treatments, transplant interventions, pain interventions, interventional oncology, gastrointestinal and genitourinary interventions, endoleak repair, as well as advanced arterial, venous, and lymphatic disease treatment techniques,  - this program will be a great fit.

However, the greatest strength of this program is the collegiality between the entire IR team as well as our diagnostic colleagues. We look forward to meeting you, and feel free to contact us with any questions.
