Our fellows have numerous clinical and didactic teaching opportunities. During the 2 years, the fellow will complete the ASTS Educational modules in the Academic Universe.

Each week the fellow will attend numerous conferences. These include:

  • multidisciplinary radiology conference
  • liver service conference
  • kidney service conference
  • selection meetings for live and kidney transplants
  • morbidity and mortality

Our fellows have attended the American Transplant Congress, ASTS Winter meeting, and ASTS Fellow symposia; as well as as well as ASTS workshops and other international meetings.

As Ochsner is affiliated with University of Queensland and the Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine, fellows will have opportunities to teach medical students, interns and residents.

If the fellow successfully accomplishes the ASTS milestones, they will be offered the opportunity to pursue an away rotation in an area of their interest. Previous fellows have had enrichment in live donor liver transplant, pediatric transplant, 3D printing, donor organ perfusion, and surgical education.
