Ochsner is committed to a clinically-integrated research program with the ultimate goal of improving the health and wellness of our patients and communities. And as the largest academic medical center in Louisiana, we are training the next generation of healthcare professionals to be leaders who can meet evolving healthcare challenges.
In July 1999, the Psychiatry Residency Program of Ochsner Health and Louisiana State University merged to offer an opportunity to train in a stimulating environment where teaching and clinical practice are evenly balanced.
The wide-ranging clinical and research interests of the Ochsner and LSU staff, along with the diversity of clinical settings, provide a multifaceted training experience for the psychiatric resident.
In addition to an extensive seminar and grand rounds schedule, the Department of Psychiatry sponsors an active monthly lecture series, which brings renowned psychiatrists to Ochsner.
Supervision by senior Ochsner faculty throughout the residency is a cornerstone of our program, which provides a close working relationship between residents and supervisors.
Numerous opportunities for both formal and informal supervision provide the resident with a rich learning experience.
