2026 Ochsner Women’s Health Research Seminar

Purpose

This conference is an opportunity for our residents to present data, which they have accumulated in their areas of interest, coupled with presentations by a guest lecturer encompassing a broad spectrum of topics in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. This conference is intended for OB/GYN physicians, nurses and nurse practitioners.

Guest Faculty

Susan C. Modesitt, MD, FACOG, FACS

Dr. Susan C. Modesitt is the Chair of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department at the Emory University School of Medicine and also holds the John D. Thompson endowed chair in Gynecologic Oncology. She completed her undergraduate degree at Emory University, her medical school at the University of Virginia, her OB/GYN residency at the University of North Carolina and her Gynecologic Oncology fellowship at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. She was on faculty at the University of Kentucky prior to joining the faculty at the University of Virginia where she was the Division Director from 2007-2022. Dr. Modesitt returned to Emory University in 2022 to become the Division Director and head of the Gynecologic Cancer Team in the Winship Cancer Institute and took on the department chair role in 2025.

Dr. Modesitt is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and has served in multiple national leadership roles and committees for the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Foundation for Women’s Cancer and the NRG Oncology Group. Dr. Modesitt currently is the Editor-in-Chief of Gynecologic Oncology Reports and a Deputy Editor for Gynecologic Oncology and she also serves on the Board of Governors for the American College of Surgeons. She has published over 120 articles, 20 book chapters/invited articles, and has been recognized annually as a Top Doctor for Cancer since 2012 and an Exceptional Woman in Medicine since 2017.

Her research focuses on hereditary cancers, obesity related cancers, and clinical trials. Outside of work, Dr. Modesitt loves cycling trips, swimming, hiking, golf and, barring injury, does the occasional race.



Accreditation
The Ochsner Clinic Foundation is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Designation
The Ochsner Clinic Foundation designates this live activity for a maximum of 3.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
