This conference provides participating physicians and healthcare providers the tools and knowledge to handle the numerous demands placed on a community-based hospitalist program. Skills will be developed across the continuum; including intensive care, acute care medicine, pain management, and updates in HIV therapies. The purpose of this meeting is to identify common issues pertinent to hospital based medicine, including clinical, administrative, and quality challenges currently in the forefront of hospital medicine.
Abstract Competition - Send completed abstract to email@example.com
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: APRIL 15, 2022 at 5:00 pm CTL
Abstract Eligibility: Original abstracts that either have or have not been presented at other meetings will be considered. Presentation of original work at the chapter meeting may, however, jeopardize presentation before another society. Abstracts are eligible if they have been published; however, abstracts based upon full papers that have been published are not eligible. Abstracts should be limited to 450 words, not including titles, authors, and headings.
Author Eligibility: The first author of an abstract must be a Resident or Medical Student from the Gulf States region. The author is encouraged to write an abstract in a format like that used in scientific papers. This facilitates easier citation in curriculum vitae or submission as evidence of scholarly activity.
Clinical Vignette: A clinical vignette is a report of one or more cases that illustrates a new disease entity, or a prominent or unusual clinical feature of an established disease. It may include a summary of pertinent patient history, physical findings, laboratory data, or management description.
Finalists Presentation: Three finalists will be selected to present a podium presentation of their abstract at the Grand Hotel on Friday, June 3, 2022. Each presenter will be asked to give a 4 minute "presentation overview" of their research or case, leaving 6 minutes for a question-and-answer session. Finalists must attend the conference in person and will be responsible for hotel and travel expenses.
Prizes will be awarded to all finalists.
Important Dates: All finalists will be notified no later than April 22, 2022
