Anesthesia for Abdominal Organ Transplantation Fellowship
Ochsner’s Multi-Organ Transplant Institute offers a 1-year non-ACGME accredited program. One fellow will be accepted to the program each year. This position is open to applicants who have completed an accredited anesthesiology residency training program and are board eligible. The fellowship in Anesthesia for Abdominal Organ Transplantation is available at Ochsner Medical Center – Jefferson Highway located in New Orleans, LA and offers comprehensive training in perioperative care of adult patients undergoing abdominal organ transplant.
Louisiana’s first liver transplant was performed at Ochsner in 1975. Since that time, more than 2500 adult and pediatric liver transplant operations have been performed. In 2016, Ochsner performed 215 liver transplants, making it a leader among U.S. medical centers. Ochsner also routinely performs liver-kidney transplants, kidney transplants and kidney-pancreas transplants. This case mix provides the fellow with an excellent clinical experience in the complex management of this specialty.
