The Ochsner Health Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship Programs are structured, one-year postgraduate training programs for Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) seeking advanced specialty training. These immersive programs combine didactic education, simulation, and hands-on clinical experience to strengthen clinical knowledge, skills, and professional practice.

Focused on building competence, confidence, and clinical excellence, the fellowship experience provides APPs with a supportive transition to specialty practice. Fellows participate in a specialty-specific curriculum that includes:

  • Specialty-specific didactic education
  • Simulation-based training, including high-fidelity simulation and skills training
  • Direct patient care and clinical training
  • Multidisciplinary rounds and collaborative practice
  • Quality improvement and scholarly projects
  • Mentorship from experienced APPs

Throughout the program, APP fellows serve as integral members of the healthcare team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. This collaborative approach supports the development of clinical judgment, leadership skills, and interprofessional communication.

The Ochsner Health APP Fellowship Programs prepare graduates for successful, long-term careers in their chosen specialty while advancing excellence in patient care.
