The Breast Imaging Fellowship at Ochsner is a one-year program designed to prepare fellows for successful careers in either academic or private practice breast imaging. Fellows receive comprehensive training in screening and diagnostic mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, contrast-enhanced mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and image-guided breast intervention. Through progressive autonomy, fellows assume increasing responsibility for diagnostic workup, procedural planning, patient communication, radiologic-pathologic correlation, and multidisciplinary patient management. Fellows participate in weekly tumor boards, high-risk screening programs, quality and practice improvement initiatives, and dedicated educational activities including resident teaching. The program emphasizes clinical excellence, patient-centered care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and leadership development to prepare fellows for independent practice and future leadership roles within breast imaging.
