The outstanding clinical training provided by the General Surgery Residency Program has led approximately 70% of the graduates to seek additional fellowship training while 30% choose to enter general surgery practice. Twenty percent of those residents who have gone on to fellowship training have chosen careers in academic surgery while the remainder of our fellowship trained graduates have opted for private practice. All of our residents have maintained successful careers after leaving the Ochsner Health General Surgery Residency Program.
