Ochsner is committed to a clinically-integrated research program with the ultimate goal of improving the health and wellness of our patients and communities. And as the largest academic medical center in Louisiana, we are training the next generation of healthcare professionals to be leaders who can meet evolving healthcare challenges.
The fellowship runs from July 1st to June 30th of the following calendar year. Fellows are not part of the faculty or resident call pool; however, they are expected to participate in flap take-backs or returns to the OR. The fellowship is a blended mix of clinic and OR to ensure that our graduates are ready for all aspects of their practice. Fellows are expected to participate in the postoperative inpatient management of the microsurgical patients again to ensure that they are adept at all aspects of a microsurgical practice.
Fellows are encouraged to attend the annual ASRM meeting and participate in the Microsurgery Fellowship Round Table. Travel expenses and meeting fees are covered.
