Ochsner is committed to a clinically-integrated research program with the ultimate goal of improving the health and wellness of our patients and communities. And as the largest academic medical center in Louisiana, we are training the next generation of healthcare professionals to be leaders who can meet evolving healthcare challenges.

Ochsner Health offers a Neonatal APP Fellowship Program designed for physician assistants and neonatal nurse practitioners seeking advanced training in neonatology. The program supports the delivery of high-quality neonatal care through a comprehensive, evidence-based curriculum and dedicated mentorship from experienced neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
Training takes place in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) that provide varying levels of care based on gestational age and clinical condition. Most training occurs in the 67-bed NICU at Ochsner Baptist Women’s Pavilion in New Orleans, Louisiana. Fellows also complete a one-month rotation at Ochsner Medical Center – West Bank Campus in Gretna, Louisiana, providing exposure to a community hospital setting.
