Curriculum & Learning Experience - Neonatal APP Fellowship Program

The Neonatal APP Fellowship curriculum is intentionally developed to support progression from foundational neonatal knowledge to advanced clinical decision-making in high-acuity care settings. Fellows participate in didactic sessions, simulation-based learning, case discussions, bedside teaching, and interdisciplinary learning experiences.

• Foundations of neonatal care: newborn assessment, thermoregulation, fetal circulation, and transition to extrauterine life
• Respiratory and critical care management: invasive and noninvasive ventilation and care of high-risk neonatal populations
• Nutrition, fluids, glucose management, and pharmacology: core concepts that support safe and effective neonatal care
• Common neonatal conditions: respiratory, cardiac, renal, hematologic, gastrointestinal, neurologic, and integumentary concerns
• Specialty topics: infectious disease, genetics, neuroimaging, retinopathy of prematurity, neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome, and transport
• Professional practice and systems-based care: patient safety, discharge planning, palliative care, ethics, and quality improvement
