Welcome to Louisiana’s Only ACGME-Accredited Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program!

The Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship at Ochsner Children's Hospital is Louisiana’s only ACGME-accredited Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program. This one year program is designed to provide advanced, comprehensive training in the perioperative care of infants, children, and adolescents undergoing a wide variety of surgical and diagnostic procedures, including complex congenital heart surgery.

The fellowship provides fellows with opportunities to develop advanced clinical expertise, sound judgment, leadership skills, teaching abilities, and scholarly productivity beyond the core residency curriculum.

Applicants must have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited anesthesiology residency prior to entry into the program. Upon completion of the fellowship, graduates will be prepared to function as independent consultants in pediatric anesthesiology and will be eligible to sit for the Pediatric Anesthesiology subspecialty board examination.

Program Mission

The mission of the Ochsner Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship is to train physicians who are fully competent in all aspects of modern pediatric anesthetic practice. Through a comprehensive clinical experience, fellows gain expertise in caring for pediatric patients across a broad range of surgical specialties and clinical settings. Emphasis is placed on excellence in perioperative medicine, patient safety, quality improvement, multidisciplinary collaboration, and family-centered care.

Our fellows develop the knowledge, technical skills, and clinical judgment necessary to manage both routine and complex pediatric anesthetic challenges while serving as advocates for the highest standards of patient care. Through meaningful scholarly activity, quality initiatives, and educational experiences, fellows are encouraged to contribute to the advancement of pediatric anesthesiology and perioperative medicine.

In addition to cultivating clinical excellence, the program strives to prepare future leaders in academic and community practice. Fellows work closely with residents, medical students, and interdisciplinary team members, strengthening the educational mission of the department while fostering a culture of mentorship, professionalism, and lifelong learning. Upon graduation, our fellows are equipped to deliver exceptional care, advance the specialty, and serve as leaders in pediatric anesthesiology wherever their careers take them.
