The Gayle and Tom Benson Ochsner Children’s Hospital
An exciting new chapter in pediatric care is underway at Ochsner. The Gayle and Tom Benson Ochsner Children’s Hospital, scheduled to open in early 2028 on the Ochsner Medical Center - New Orleans campus, will provide a new home for Ochsner Children’s and its nationally recognized pediatric programs. The five-story, 343,000-square-foot facility is being designed specifically for children and families, bringing expanded pediatric services together in a dedicated environment.
For Pediatric Anesthesiology fellows, the new hospital will offer an exciting environment in which to train as Ochsner continues to expand its pediatric programs and services. The facility will feature a children’s-only emergency department, expanded critical care capacity, state-of-the-art operating rooms and dedicated pediatric imaging, as well as a Level IV surgical NICU designed to support highly specialized care for infants requiring surgery.
The new hospital reflects Ochsner’s continued investment in the future of pediatric care and creates an especially exciting setting for the growth of our Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship. As pediatric services transition into this new home, fellows will have the opportunity to train within a purpose-built environment designed to support complex pediatric care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the continued growth of Ochsner Children’s.
